Bio

Beginnings

Ray Chase was born May 20, 1987 in Freehold, New Jersey, and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was in symphonic band in school playing piano and trumpet but transitioned to theater after a free class period allowed him to try something new. He grew up mimicking his father who did silly voices, and even read the ‘Goosebumps’ series aloud to his family on car trips to school as a child to practice. He graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in 2009. While there he was an RA and also played ragtime piano in the USC bookstore, and even met his future wife Julia Mcilvaine.

Voice Actor

Chase began his career in voice acting, auditioning for roles on Voice123. He made his own

reels and recorded 200 audio books prior to moving into video games and anime.

One of his first lead roles was that of Noctis Lucis Caelum in Final Fantasy XV which was released in 2016.

In 2022, he worked with acclaimed horror director James Wan to voice the villain in Malignant, for which he was nominated for a Critics Choice Super Award. Also that year he made an on-camera appearance as B. Mitchel Reed in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, which was nominated for Best Picture at the 94th Annual Academy Awards. He also voiced dozens of radio and television spots for the Oscar campaign, which won a Clio Award.

In 2023, a voice clip of his character Neuvillette from Genshin Impact saying ‘Oratrice Mecanique d’analyse Cardinale’ went viral, especially on Tiktok where it was used by the NFL, Jollibee, Jolly Rancher, and even the cast of Hamilton to dance to.

In 2024, he joined the cast of Disney’s X-men ‘97 as Cyclops, taking over the role originated by Norm Spencer.

Chase has voiced many national commercial campaigns for several year-running campaigns, notably Coke Zero, Welch’s, and Behr Paint.

Chase is a noted fixture on the con scene - with over 125 appearances.

Game Designer

In 2018, a chance discussion between Chase and fellow voice actor Robbie Daymond led to the formation of a game company: Sassy Chap Games. In 2025, they released Date Everything! - Chase served as the project’s lead developer. He is credited as Lead Designer, Narrative Designer, Lead Writer, and Story Programmer, as well as voicing Scandalabra, Lyric, Wallace, and Ballcock. The game contains over 1.6 million words, 2,000 story variables, 70,000 voice lines, and 13,000 pieces of individual art, created by a small team working remotely.

The game had over 100 union voice actors on the project, and looked to buck the current lack of video game residuals for voice actors by setting aside 10% of all profits to go toward the cast. The game was received to favorable reviews and an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ score on Steam.
